Club 10 TT Series: Week 6 results
Despite that, 11 rode with 5 new PBs and a new member joining on the night - welcome to Allan McCrimmon and congratulations on beating me by a single second on your first night . Matt took the honours again though it looks like Stevie might well be on his case having joined the elite '24 club' in emphatic style. Ross's time also stands out in such soggy conditions. Thanks to Andy and Sadiq for running things so well. Here are the times & league positions.
Week 6 results
1 M Ball 24.26
2 S McDowall 24.47
3 R Dewar 25.46

League positions
Matt Ball extends his lead at the top but Ross Dewar moves into second place overall, pushing John McComisky down into 3rd and Bill Young is starting to make his move up the rankings to fourth.
Julie Dominguez, in 15th place overall, leads the Women's competition from Denise Schofield in second place, this competition is wide open and other women in the club still have a chance of winning if they come along on a Thursday.
Entering the TT is the key to a high league placing, the more times participants enter the time trials the more chance of getting points. Were not half way through the season yet so there is still time to climb up the table.

10 TT WEEK 3 RESULTS: Thursday 21st May
Organiser Graham sent in this report "Best night of the three so far, bright with a bit of a bustling westerly chasing the heavy daytime showers over the horizon. Turnout was exellent again - 18 - and we must be pretty close to half of the club's membership having come along to take part, which is what WLC is all about. A few firsts tonight: a few first rides, our first sub 25 by Matt Ball (with Sadiq Mir being well within range of that same breakthrough) and, I think, our first fixie attempt at the course by new member Matt Muir. Add to that a wide range of PB's and other great efforts all round."
The women's competition is hotting up, with only 1 point separating the leaders and Denise is getting stronger each week, smashing her PB by 30 seconds last night.
New member Matt Muir said "Was great to be out on the road again tonight. Hadn't realised I was the first to record a time on fixed (Does this count as a club record then? just kidding!)."
Ross said "That was a good night tonight. Great that we got some better weather. Thanks to Foz and JMC for there much appreciated help. Also thanks to Matt for his words of encouragement out on the course."

Club 10 Series: Race 2
Organiser, Graham Foster sends in the event report: Another great night, with 17 taking part. Conditions were significantly better than last week, bright and a little warmer with a bustling easterly, which led to a few week-old PBs being beaten and some newbies setting their own initial benchmarks. Myself included - 30 minutes dead was a bit frustrating but it's all experience and I give myself credit for not boaking into a hedge at the end
Anyway - down to the times - I'll post up the league position when I have more time. First of all - Andy Brown and Craig Sinclair - your times were adjusted after a second look at the timesheet highlighted a wee error. You were actually both under 30 - good effort!
Big congratulations to Graham Gilhooly for knocking a minute off last week's time to claim top points this week. Tobias 'Technik' Bauer played Jan to his Lance on his new Planet X bling. But even further down the order, the buzz suggested that there were a lot of personal performances to be proud of tonight and perhaps a lot of targets for the season being set?

Time trail series starts on 7th May.
"The club TT series starts next week, on Thursday 7th May. The 10 TT thread on the club Forum will be the main source of information throughout the series so keep up with it regularly. The way it will work will be that a separate thread will be set up for each week of the series, so if you look at Week 1 and Week 2 which are already up, you'll see an announcement of the TT and a call for volunteers - in time you'll see results and the resulting league positions coming through week by week.
In the meantime, get out and train, read the guidance here especially the risk assessment and look forward to seeing you there."

Boots!
First of all I'm glad to see so much excitement building up about the club TT which starts on Thursday 7th May and continues through to the end of August. If you've not read it yet, please have a look at the general briefing here especially the attached Risk Assessment.
Volunteers
Each TT will need a minimum of two volunteers. A timekeeper and push-off/timekeepers assistant. No volunteers, no TT. In terms of timekeeping my plan is to start off with a core (I'm thinking 7 or 8) who have had some timekeeping training and can rotate this role. Others can help out in other ways and learn from timekeepers as they go, so we have more and more that can do this job themselves.
So I would like to be able to keep a list of people who would be prepared to volunteer at some point. If you plan to ride the TT you should aim to volunteer at least a couple of times – bear in mind you will get League points just for helping out and munching crispie-cake while others are bowfing their lungs up!
If you want to be on this list please email me treasurer@westlothianclarion.co.uk with your email address and phone number (pref mobile) withing the next couple of weeks or so. I will of course only hold and issue these details for the purposes of running the TT.
Once I have a circulation list I can then start circulating emails and asking for volunteers for each week on a rolling basis, probably about a fortnight in advance. I'm hoping to be able to help cover the first one as I'm riding the Bealach Beag two days later.
Secondly. Jimmy Harris has very kindly volunteered to train some of us in the art of timekeeping, round my house (Reddingmuirhead) at 7:30 on Thursday 16th April. Me, Grant and Matt are planning to be there and we can probably fit another 4 or 5 into my front room. If you want to take part in this training could you please mention this in your email. I'll email you back if I can fit you in – first come first served. Thanks.
As a closing thought – I was out in summer shorts and short sleeves today on my new carbon Cannondale. In the first week of April. And I really, really reckon we're due a proper summer this time.....
